Taurini: Laboratory Testing for IMO Compliance of Materials.

Taurini has conducted specific laboratory tests to verify IMO requirements for materials intended for use in the marine industry and interior design.

The testing activities focused on covering and lining materials for floors, walls and ceilings with limited flame-spread characteristics, with particular attention to decorative solutions and materials used in interior outfitting.

The tests were carried out with reference to the 2010 FTP Code – Annex 1, Part 5, as required by IMO regulations and referenced in IMO Resolution MSC.307(88), concerning test procedures for materials and components.

Mother-of-Pearl and Natural Stone: Compliance with IMO Requirements

Based on the results obtained during the laboratory tests, the mother-of-pearl and natural stone materials tested were found to be compliant with the requirements of the 2010 FTP Code, Annex 1, Part 5, IMO Resolution MSC.307(88) for use as wall or ceiling coverings.

This result represents an important step forward in the development of decorative solutions capable of combining aesthetic appeal, sophisticated materials and the technical requirements.

The natural characteristics of mother-of-pearl and stone, combined with the possibility of creating customized decorative solutions, make it possible to develop surfaces and coverings designed for marine interior design, yachts, and interior design, such as furniture.

Innovation and Safety

The yachting and marine industries require materials capable of meeting particularly demanding technical standards, while maintaining high aesthetic quality and offering extensive possibilities for creating exclusive and customized environments.

Taurini’s research and testing activities are part of this approach: developing decorative materials and solutions suitable for marine interior design applications, while verifying their performance through specific laboratory testing.

The compliance demonstrated by the tested mother-of-pearl and natural stone samples opens up new design possibilities for architects, designers, shipyards and professionals specializing in yacht construction and refitting.

A New Milestone for Taurini

The test results represent an important confirmation of Taurini’s ongoing commitment to the development of innovative decorative materials.

Our goal is to continue combining the refinement and uniqueness of natural materials with the technical and regulatory requirements, offering architects and designers new possibilities for interior design projects.

Taurini continues its research and development journey, bringing natural materials and high-end decorative solutions into new applications within the world of yachting and luxury interiors.
