Machocany

Obsidian is a volcanic rock, a product of the effusion of lavas with a rhyolitic composition, that is, particularly rich in silica and alkali. Specific conditions of rapid cooling of lava on the earth’s surface, in a sub aerial or aquatic environment, account for the structural homogeneity and glassiness of obsidian. It occurs with reddish patches on a black background and light veins.
