Rhodocrosite

It is found in the form in microcrystalline, compact masses, or, rarely, in aggregates covered with a blackish patina that covers the cleavage surfaces composed of manganese oxides of alteration of the mineral that obscure the vitreous-pearly luster of the mineral.
